We had a great spring picnic event on April 10th, seeing old friends and enjoying Honey Bear’s BBQ with 52 folks in attendance. Check out the photos in the newsletter under the Events Report section.

The next event is the Club meeting on Wednesday, May 1st at the Granite Reef Senior Center – 1700 N Granite Reef Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257 – where Peter A. Swan, Ph.D, President of the International Space Elevator Consortium, will introduce you to space elevators, discuss their history, design, mechanics, potential benefits, future plans and impediments. Save the date! Our next gathering is the annual spring picnic on April 10th starting at 11:00 a.m. at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E Indian Bend Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85250. We will be meeting at the Stillman Ramada, map above.

The cost is only $10 for members and non-members and will feature a catered lunch from Honey Bears BBQ! We will collect $10 cash or check at the event. Please RSVP your attendance by sending us an email by April 1st (no fooling) at garrettr@garrettretireesaz.com so we know how much food to prepare. We will also be sending out an event for this on our Facebook page as well so please RSVP via email or Facebook but not both!

Save the date! Our next meeting is on March 6th at 1 p.m. at the Granite Reef Senior Center, featuring a special presentation by our local historian Steve Hoza on the history of Arizona’s own “The Wallace and Ladmo Show!”

Even if you’ve never heard of Captain Super or Mr. Grudgemeyer, or don’t know what a Ladmo Bag is, you’ll want to hear about the history of this beloved TV show. Steve Hoza, who runs the official website for Wallace and Ladmo, will present a PowerPoint presentation with lots of funny stories. Steve is on the board of Wallace Watchers. Join us at the March 6th meeting for this entertaining presentation and to see many of your friends and former colleagues!

Save the date! Our next meeting is on Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Granite Reef Senior Center, featuring a special presentation by former Honeywell leader Ron Rich, a seasoned figure in the aerospace industry with 40 years of experience.

Ron spent 34 years at Honeywell in various executive roles, including Engineering Director of the APU product line. Now VP and General Manager at Intertech Engineering, Ron will share his insights into the aerospace world, covering his career at Honeywell and his latest role at Intertec.
